CorelDRAW files as previews
CDR viewer – open CorelDRAW files without CorelDRAW
CorelDRAW files often have no thumbnail in File Explorer – especially on a computer without CorelDRAW. Album 42 shows CDR files as previews in the catalogue and full size in the viewer, on Windows 11 and on the Mac. That is how you find the right logo or the right draft without opening every file.
How to see your CDR files
Scan the folder
Select the folder with your CorelDRAW files and click “Scan”.
View
Double-click shows the file full size, converted to up to 2400 pixels – for CorelDRAW this takes a few seconds.
Drag into a program
A file can be dragged from Album 42 straight into CorelDRAW or another program; the original is passed on.
Files without an embedded preview
Most CDR files come with a thumbnail that Album 42 reads directly. For files without one, such as auto-backups, the free Inkscape draws the preview. Right-click and “Improve preview” also lets Inkscape redraw blurry thumbnails sharply – for one picture, a selection or a whole folder.
Find all CorelDRAW files
The “File type” filter shows only CorelDRAW files, from all folders and drives. With the tag “Logo” and a colour you find exactly the blue logo. More about vector formats under EPS, AI and SVG.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need CorelDRAW to see CDR thumbnails?
No. Album 42 reads the preview contained in the file. If there is none, the free Inkscape helps.
Why are some previews blurry?
Some files only contain a small thumbnail. “Improve preview” in the right-click menu has Inkscape redraw the file.
Does Album 42 change my CDR files?
No. Even “Improve preview” only changes the thumbnail in the catalogue, not the file.
Does it run on Windows 11 and on the Mac?
Yes – on Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit) and on macOS 12 or later, on Macs with Apple silicon and with Intel processors.
CorelDRAW is a trademark of Corel Corporation. Album 42 is not affiliated with Corel.
