view big, browse fast
Fast photo viewer for Windows 11 and Mac
Double-click, and the picture fills the screen – even a Photoshop, CorelDRAW or RAW file that an ordinary photo viewer won’t open at all. Zoom with the mouse wheel, browse with the arrow keys, drag a rectangle to copy a section. If a photo is sideways or the horizon is crooked, rotate it with one click or straighten it at a corner.
How to use the viewer
Open
Double-click a picture or click the preview in the detail panel.
Zoom
Mouse wheel around the pointer; double-click switches between fit and original size.
Browse
Use ← and → to go through the pictures of the current view. Esc takes you back.
Rotate and straighten
The rotate button at the top turns by 90° to the right, the one next to it flips. Grab a crooked picture just outside a corner and turn it straight, then Save.
Straighten crooked photos
Point the mouse just outside a corner of the picture – the pointer turns into a rotation arrow. Holding the mouse button, you rotate the picture freely around its centre; a grid and the angle next to the mouse help with alignment, and it snaps in at 0°. Whatever sticks out over the edge is darkened and is cut off when saving, so no empty corners remain. For the last tenths of a degree, use the mouse wheel at the corner.
Saving writes to the original file – for JPG, PNG, WebP and TIFF. Date taken, GPS data, camera and colour profile are kept, and JPGs are written at high quality. If you don’t like the result, “Restore original” brings back the previous version.

Frequently asked questions
Can I drag a picture from the viewer into another program?
Yes, with the button with the four arrows – the original file is passed on. You can also open it in the default program or show it in File Explorer or Finder.
Does Album 42 change my pictures when viewing them?
No. Viewing leaves every file unchanged. Only when you rotate, flip or straighten a picture and click “Save” does Album 42 write the change into the file – “Restore original” brings back the previous version.
How do I straighten a crooked photo?
In the viewer, hold the mouse button just outside a corner and rotate until the horizon is straight, then “Save”. Album 42 crops so that no empty corners remain.
Is the viewer also available on the Mac?
Yes, with the same features – use ⌘ instead of Ctrl.
How much does Album 42 cost?
